Character Background

Griofa, as his mother still calls him, or Griffin as he's known among a few friends, comes from a small clan of wild elves that circulate and travel along the northern Aragothian borders. They're a nomadic people that rarely stay in one place for long and set down roots briefly, much like the rest of their Sorani kin. At an early age, Griffin showed a talent for magic of a primal nature and was trained to follow the footsteps of his father, the late Chieftain of his wild elf clan. Griffin's father died young for an elf due to skirmishes between two clans. Many might want to believe that elves are above fighting one another, but such wasn't true that day as tensions had been raising. No one knows who fired the first arrow or bolt of magic, only that two clans were forever changed that day. That left the young druid's mother in charge and she has since raised him in hopes of sewing up the damage between the two clans and uniting them together as one. By doing this, she and the surviving Chieftain of the other clan came to an agreement that their oldest children should certainly be wed and that with their marriage the past could be left in the past. Was Griffin given much of a choice in this matter? Yes and no, in a certain manner of speaking. His good and thoughtful, loving mother did allow him a chance to reject such a noble offer but Griffin felt incredibly pressured once it became clear that the fate of a peaceful coexistence required his agreement.

What Griffin won't share with most people, especially those that he's only recently met, is that he's the odd duck of his clan and practically seen as a social outcast despite his mother's desire for him to one day step forward to the plate as Chief. He doesn't actually want that responsibility, but he loves her and is too spineless to speak out with the truth. For the past ten years of a long and disappointing courtship period he's nearly proven himself worthy of marrying the young elven girl to whom he is betrothed. Despite her lovely appearance, the girl has a tongue as venomous as a tree serpent and Griffin doesn't look forward to their union. At all.

Physical Description

His stylishly unkempt and sunstreaked blonde hair matches well with a healthy, tawny complexion that tends to bronze quick beneath the sun. Unfortunately, the more that he tans the more noticeable his freckles also become, making him appear younger and boyish despite his age. During the summer months he tends to hack away at his hair with the edge of a knife blade only to ignore it again come winter time since the extra length provides some warmth for his long ears. At just a couple inches beneath six foot, he appears slim but is stronger than he looks, has a casual, comforting smile and green eyes flecked with hints of gold.

Talents, Skills, Quirks

  • Weapons Skills: talented with a bow and he's downright mean when it comes down to using a knife but he prefers to pick off his targets at a distance with the magic he's been trained to use long before his adulthood.
  • Animal Empathy and Communication: talking with animals isn't about barking like a dog or speaking in kitten tongue to the cats, but Griffin is capable of speaking to animals and making himself understood in return to a degree.
  • Animal Companion: Griffin has a mossy green snake that is his best friend.
  • Wild Shape: Griffin is a master of wild shape despite his short comings in other fields of druidic magic and manipulation of the elements. The shape of a snowlynx happens to come easiest to the elf, although hte process is exhausting.

Other Information

The poor elf is fascinated by humans and civilization, unlike those of his kin and Clan whom avoid cities, stick to the wilderness, and have no desire to mingle with humans. Griffin's desire to learn and a hungry mind that sucks up knowledge like a sponge overpowers every lick of common sense that he has at times and can get him into quite a bit of trouble.

Griff has a history of being a trickster, he likes practical jokes and pranks.
