The Kopa'a is one of the variety of gorgeous flowering trees that is found in Bahija. It is fed on by the Giant Hummingbird as well as by the normal species of hummingbirds and avian life in the area.
Growth Cycle
The Kopa'a grows normally very slowly but the plant is rather hearty and can grow anywhere between the size of a sprawling bush to a large tree. Depending on the quality of the soil in which it is growing. The growth of the tree is varied as well in what shape it takes, sometimes the trees are wide and straight and other times twisted and the branches are more vine like than branch.

Though there is not a specific time for the majority of growth of the tree itself the flowers bloom in spring and remain all through the summer. Flowers are usually bright to medium red but orange-red, salmon, pink, yellow, or orange forms are also found. The flowers appear in clusters on the terminal ends of the branches. Masses of stamens extend from the flower and give the blossoms their characteristic pom-pon shape.

Regional Information
Though the tree of Kopa'a is used for a variety of different things, there are rituals by which the people act when it comes to the plant. The people of the region have a legend about the tree, that there were two lovers and one grew ill. Dying from the illness his mate called out to their goddess and asked for help. The goddess responded by turning the man into the tree and when his lover mourned for his loss the goddess turned her into the flower that rested on the tree's limbs.

Because of this legend the flowers are never taken off the tree, they are allowed to fall to the ground and then gathered by the people of the region. The legend tells the people that if they pluck the flowers from the tree there will be storms, rain will fall and bad weather will come because of the tears the lovers cry when they are parted.

Cultivation
These trees do the best on their own, when the tree is forced to grow in ground that it does not choose it doesn't flourish as well. When forced to grow the tree is more likely to grow poorly or die, when allowed to choose its own earth the plant grows with sweet blossoms.
Uses
The flower of this tree is commonly used as a sweetner for teas and food. The flower petals are also used as a dye, the colors are rich from these petals in differing shades.
The wood of the tree is used for decoration, the shade of the wood without stain is just as beautiful as treated wood could be. Though the tree is treated carefully by the locals and when possible they do not allow the trees to be cut down in quantity, they are still used for smaller household items.

}}

Bahija is one of several countries that fields an aerial cavalry (others being Griffon's Aerie, Elvendeep, Arangoth, Pentland and Zul Kiras.) Bahijan mounts are giant breeds of hummingbirds that evolved to feed from some of the enormous flowering trees in the Bahijan jungle. These mounts are capable of vertical takeoff and can be trained to charge, inflicting serious damage with their lance-like beaks. They are fed a diet of water infused with nectar or sugarcane. Originally the giant hummingbird was half its current size. Years of dedication and careful breeding grew the bird and granted it the ability to carry both a rider, the gear necessary for it, and small loads.

Description
The giant hummingbird closely resembles its smaller cousins in terms of body shape. There are some changes to make it more robust and able to carry smaller members of the Bahijan cavalry over the distances required. Heavier musculature attaching the wings, carrying around to the breast, a less delicate beak, and legs with stronger bones and longer talons.

Above everything else the most prominent feature is the bird's long beak. It takes up nearly one quarter of the total length at an average of 4-5'. Those bred for fighting and cavalry use have a straight beak while those for pleasure of riding and to give tours may have one that curves downward. From the beak comes out a long tongue used to gather nectar from flowers that have evolved with it that accommodate the birds' requirement for nectar that has a high sugar content. While it is possible for them to eat other things, fruits smashed and mixed with water or water with sugarcane in it, the best diet is pure nectar. It delivers the nutrients and sugar that it requires to sustain high-energy flight.

Coloration varies greatly depending on breeder, use, and environment they're raised in. They tend to blend in with their surroundings rather than stand out. Either they match the foliage of colossal plants they call home and roost in or the flowers that they prefer. An iridescent bird with a green dorsal area and light blue belly might come from the grasslands. One with a red head and green body typically favors a large flower that nearly envelopes the bird's head. More radical colors have been developed by controlled breeding over the course of many generations. This has produced purple varieties with blue wings, a solid emerald iridescence, and even spots and flecks of black over their bodies.

Sharp talons tip every one of the hummingbird's toes. They are long and curved, made to deal damage to even creatures that have a natural or artificial armor. Thick legs, and the hooked claws, allow them to tear at, pick up, and generally mangle a target. It adds a formidable weapon that, in conjunction with the lance-like beak, make this creature worth the upkeep.

There are more feathers on a single hummingbird than there are on three of a counterpart its size of a different variety. Each feather is small in size and fan-shaped. There are few barbs and this make it almost resemble a comb. The soft barbs are considerably shorter and do not taper into the barb.

Habitat
All across the Bahijan island cluster. Smaller wild hummingbirds, roughly half the size of the gargantuan bred varieties, call more of their food sources home than the calvary-sized birds. Kopa'a, and siholia'ha are favored. The much larger kala huna and tui'ila trees are also used. But should an escaped or released calvary bird claim a tree the smaller individuals will be run out. They don't co-habitate very well.

Some attempts to transport specimens to zoos and collectors in other regions of the world failed miserably. They require nectar from their preferred plants, the level of humidity, and several other factors to thrive. As of now it's near impossible for them to travel away from their native habitat.

Breeding Habits
Early in the spring a breeding pair will work on building a nest in the massive kala huna or papa'i'apala trees. They commonly use whole and partial bits of leaves, mud, and the strong webbing of the golden spider to bind everything together. Typically the nests are bowl shaped and have high sides to them. On the small side but made to prevent young chicks from toppling out of the nest too early. Spider silk is a favored binding material thanks to its ability to expand and make more room for growing chicks.

One to three eggs are laid a week or so after mating. They're white in color with some dark brown mottling, helping it blend in, and decrease the probability of being devoured by the many opportunistic predators and scavengers. The few oviparous creatures are used to searching out the giant hummingbird nests for a monumental payout. The 1' in diameter eggs are a boon on anything that can get their hands on them if they can get through the hard 4mm shells.

Eggs begin to crack open roughly four months after being laid. The young hummingbirds break through the shell using an egg tooth. Soon after hatching the mother feeds them insects and nectar until they're large enough to start venturing out of the nest and explore the length of branch they call home.

Other Characteristics
It's hard to believe that the giant hummingbird suffers from predation but there are a number of creatures that devour them. Wild specimens have more of a problem with survival in the difficult Bahijan landscape than farmed ones. In the wild forests there's no breeder or wood and metal coop to keep them safe. Young are subject to great horned boas raiding their nest. Eggs and newly hatched chicks are helpless when a colony of arrow ants and silver mites

This fungus is used as a supplement for the Vuulari people who spend most of if not all of their lives below the surface. Vuulari are able to travel above the ground but the sunlight hurts their skin and eyes. Because of the difference in nutrition, the problems that come from being unable to grow plant life below the earth, the Vuulari people have developed this blue glowing fungus as a dietary option.

Growth Cycle
Because there are no real seasons or changes in the climate beneath the earth, Uuthli Olva grows quickly and converts the compost on which is grows into nutrition for the spread, processing the waste material for food quickly. In a matter of weeks the fungus will spread through a pile of compost, devouring it and turning it into the deeply glowing blue food.

Mostly the fungus begins as spores, either placed in the compost by the Vuulari on purpose to grown there or naturally occurring with the presence of heat, moisture, and the necessary vitamin and mineral content in the compost.

Regional Information
This fungus grows in the Underdark, in the Vuulari cities beneath the ground. Because of the lack of light the plant has created its own artificial light and feeds itself off the product of its own glow as well as the minerals and vitamins found within the declining compost. Uuthli Olva needs no light source to survive so it is perfectly able to live in the black of this subterranean environment.
Because of its uses as a food supplement the Vuulari people cultivate this fungus as a means of feeding their people. It is not enough to provide all the nutritional requirements of the people, but it is able to transform the vitamins, nutrition of the composted matter and turn it into something that it can it, as a byproduct it becomes something that the Vuulari system finds nutritional and healthy.

Description
A multi colored snake that ranges through the tones of red, orange, and brown with triangular and black markings. Because these snakes can grow to 4 or 5 feet in length, their markings and colors are highly noticeable and in the regions that they inhabit, they are bright in comparison to their surroundings to either ward off preditors or display themselves for mating.

Habitat
Normally the Autumn snake can be found in wooded areas though there is a variation of the serpent that is lighter in color which lives in savanna and grasslands areas. The version of the reptile that choses the wooded areas is more likely to make it's home in more rocky areas. They don't lay eggs so the shelter that they find for their young is usually the same, rocky outcroppings and contained spaces.

Breeding Habits
Autumn snakes breed in late summer, but not every year: sometimes a female will produce young for several years running, then not breed at all for a time. The females will feed heavily before their young are born and spend the time from their birth til they are long enough to hunt for themselves. When they do give birth this reptile does not lay eggs but gives birth to live young, about 3 or 4. They tend to be about 4.5 feet long and prey on rodents.
}}
The Amur tiger is a cat that lives in colder climates, it is a massive animal whose coat turns a lighter color as the season changes. These beasts are consummate hunters and the animals that they stalk down are killed in an oddly neat kind of way.

Description
Amur Tigers are massive cats that are a pale shade of orange naturally, they have the standard tiger striping though every tiger bears a different pattern of stripes, as distinctive to each tiger as a human's fingerprints. The stripes of the cat run all the way down through their legs, covering their entire body with the streaking. Their muzzles and markings around their faces are normally a lighter shade of orange as well as their bellies and their legs.

During the winter months the Amur Tiger's coat starts to change color and becomes lighter, the stripes growing more pale along with the whole of their orange coat. Because they are already a pale kind of orange to begin with it is possible that the diminution of color in the winter months is to aide them in concealing them in snowy environments.

Habitat
These tigers are found in areas that are colder, though they are able to survive in regions where the weather is warm at times, they are unlikely to remain there. Because of the location where they prefer to live, their coats are extremely thick and shaggy, so they are much better suited to cold climates.

Breeding Habits
Amur Tigers reach sexual maturity at four years of age. They mate at any time of the year. A female signals her receptiveness by leaving urine deposits and scratch marks on trees. She will spend 5 or 6 days with the male, during which she is receptive for three days. Gestation lasts from 3 to 3.5 months. Litter size is normally two or four cubs but there can be as many as six.

The cubs are born blind in a sheltered den and are left alone when the female leaves to hunt for food. Cubs are divided equally between genders at birth. However, by adulthood there are usually two to four females for every male. The female cubs remain with their mothers longer, and later they establish territories close to their original ranges. The Amur Tiger has been known to breed with tigers of different kinds though it is rare because of the seclusion and harsh environment where the Amur lives.

Other Characteristics
Extremely good eyesight, much better than the standard tiger.
Fastidious in killing, the Amur Tiger commonly will use a forepaw to swipe at the neck of smaller prey, breaking the neck for a clean kill
This animal of the savanna is highly revered and feared by many people. These animals live in groups and prefer to strangle there prey slowly and rip it apart as opposed to the tiger. Some groups can have as many as 25 but 10 is much more common.

Description
With a coat of dark brown and a mane of black it would seem to give this cat an ominous presence. They are a great deal like regular lions in size and form, eye color and fur color are the differences that can be found. Their fur ranges anywhere in the tones of very deep brown and black, their eyes also darker are rich bronze tones. The male of the species is much larger than the female, the female lacks a mane but commonly are the same dark brown colors. The lion's fur is short along the body and face, but the male's mane grows long and silky though tufted to stick up about the head. Ears are pointed and the males also have a tuft of the same colored fur on the tip of their slender tales. Females are much more subtle with only the dark fur and eyes.

Habitat
Black lions tend to live in Savannah type regions, warm areas where there is plenty of game. Because they live among groups, prides, there is always a concern over food and so the pride will migrate about their habitat as the food does. Normally however this lion however will chose an area to mark and that is where the pride lives, if left alone these animals are very territorial and will normally choose one area to be the are that they spend the majority of their time. The Black Lioness will leave the pride and move to another area of the habitat for the birth of cubs.

Breeding Habits
Most Black lionesses are able to reproduce by the time they are four years of age, they don't mate at any specific time of the year, they can go into heat multiple times during the year. During a mating bout the lioness may mate with more than one male while she's in heat but normally with one male they will mate twenty to forty times a day, the mating bouts can carry on for several days.

The average gestation period is around 110 days and the female gives birth to between one and four cubs in a den which is secluded from the rest of the pride, she will hunt for herself while the cubs are helpless, moving the cubs to different den sites as they grow older to prevent the scent of the young building up in any one den site. Usually, the mother does not integrate herself and her cubs back into the pride until the cubs are six to eight weeks old.[108] However, sometimes this introduction to pride life occurs earlier, particularly if other lionesses have given birth at about the same time. For instance, lionesses in a pride often synchronize their reproductive cycles so that they cooperate in the raising and suckling of the young.

Other Characteristics
Black Lions are becoming increasingly more rare to find in the wild, the cubs are sought out to raise as pets because as opposed to the normal lion the Black Lion cub is extremely impressionable. Because of the decreasing number of these animals it is becoming more common to find that the killing of or sale of anything relating to the beasts is becoming banned in normal markets, the sale of a Black Lion cub is done usually on the black market because there are very few reputable traders that will deal in the sale as cubs normally are only taken when the pride has been slaughtered. It is unusual for any member of a Black Lion pride to survive when humans come to take the cubs, they protect their young fiercely and to death.
Known as the "Wolves of the Sea," the Korthai are nomadic raiders and merchants that live off the ships that they sail. Their reputation as sailors is unsurpassed and most sailors have a horror story to tell of the Korthai. Many rumors float about that the Korthai are in league with demons and that they consume the flesh of their enemies.

Race Origins
Racially, the Korthai are descended from same stock as Assi, a mixture of the seafaring Tavaoi with the Uresti tribes. The tribes that became the Assi decided to move further inland up the Nie Valley, while the Korthai returned to their maritime roots. They are multi-racial now, a state of affairs that due to intermarraige between captured people and original Korthai as by fictive kinship and the prevalent custom of the adoption of captives.

History
The seafaring Tavaoi people arrived on the southern coast of Veth some time around 1500 BT, not long after the Uresti tribes migrated into lower Nie Valley from Aslar. The Tavaoi established several communities between the Nie and Darian rivers, and intermarried with the Uresti. This ultimately led to the downfall of the Rondissian empire. The Korthai were a particular enemy of the Tollorian navy during their era of naval dominance.

More recently, the Aslarians hired the Korthai to harass Ellurian shipping during the Southland War. When the Aslarians reneged on the deal, the Korthai turned on the Aslarians instead. Korthai Lord Harlst-Mhern Lathvek had a seat on Drache's Regency Council, and made use of his Korthai allies to supplement Arangoth's fledgling navy and to bring grain to the city during the famine that prompted the Council's rise to power.

Very recent history shows that there has been an outbreak of sickness among the Korthai, a rather broad sweeping illness that was thought to be brought on by a particular type of coral that was brought up by one of the vessels. The sickness swept through the Korthai people and was met with no resistance through normal means of treating an illness. Though the Korthai are not normally social people among each other after enough vessels were stricken and ultimately left ultimately unmanned when all but the adopted members of the crew on them died away, as a people there was a cease called on all social interaction among them. This illness did not seem to effect any of those people that were fostered into the Korthai culture and only those that were Korthai by blood including children.

The illness moved in stages and effected first the respiratory system causing violent coughing from which black sputum was expelled and eventually left the sufferer weak to the point of exhaustion. The secondary symptom of the illness effected the circulatory system, namely causing blood vessels to explode in the eyes making them weep blood and causing violent seizures that grew more and more severe to the point of death. This illness, moving rapidly through the people, had no obvious cure and had begun to devour the number of Korthai that remained. Quite suddenly however, without obvious cause, the illness stopped its ravage and those that were recently sickened grew stable and then recovered.

Culture
The only unifying philosophy prevalent amongst the Korthai: Being Korthai transcends mortality. A spirit is always Korthai, no matter what shell it is born into. Death merely means being reborn Korthai anew. To make others Korthai (again) is a higher good.

According to the Korthai, children and prisoners of war are all viewed as "adults" in training. Prisoners of war is assigned a "parent" in the same way as the natural parent of a child in adhering to a concept of fictive kinship. Adoptions are common, even between Korthai families. Some adoptions replace the old family name with the new or merely keep the old family name. This is done in cases where parents have died. First generation Korthai naming is that of the original family and adoptive family, so first generation Korthai have two names - original family and adoptive family in that order. Second Generation children use the adoptive family name as the family name. Adopted children of adopted Korthai take the Korthai name as well. Korthai females adopt the mother's last name, while males use the father's last name.

The cultural mentality of the Korthai can be summed up as one of pragmatism. If an action can cause them to lose more than they gain, the Korthai will tend to find an alternative. This also applies into their soaking up foreign concepts, technologies, and their utilization of the talents of the various races in their fold to their fullest potential. They utilize magic and technology equally. Their mentality applies to gender as well. Women and men tend to dress utilitarian. Modest styles, but can be brightly colored. Korthai have a tendency towards bluntness and crudeness and also tend towards more coarse entertainments. "May the wind break upon your prow, and not from your behind," is a Korthai parting call that tends to irritate and horrify more genteel folk. In Korthai culture, women handle finances and trading issues while men function in a military role. Both genders sail the ships and raise the young children. Older children learn on the job from "Mentors" in apprentice roles suitable for their gender. Diplomacy is handled by both genders and what passes for Korthai government controls Korthai trading.

The Korthai have two particular sorts of communities. The first of these are groups of ships called khonn-ya, and are treated much like villages. Group of elders, the captains of the ships, all male, make decisions for the armadas along with the head merchants, all female. The seasonal activities of the khonn-ya are raiding and warfare in the summer and spring, and trading and other commercial enterprises in the winter and autumn.

Home Ports
There are several "Home Ports", often near trade centers, but also isolated and ethnically distinct as Korthai. Often they are composed of land-bound elders and children as well as some wounded in battle. Some ships also base themselves around certain home ports on certain Korthai trade routes. At least a pair of Korthai ships is in the region, if not in the port, to scare off other traders, aggressors. Except for a number of good natured drunken brawls, these towns tend to be well run and very quiet politically. Criminals tend to end up out to sea in 'vigilante' actions. In reality, the Korthai towns are run by Korthai law, but keep up the appearances of well ordered towns following the native laws. Korthai diplomatic policy, when they have such relations, tend to be a representative based at the home port.

The best known Korthai home port to Arangothians is Mhernettla, located on the Southern coast to the east of Drache. The town is on the lands of Halrlst Mhern-Lathvek, an Arangothian noble adopted into the Korthai. The rapid re-growth of the Elgar Forest during the Interregnum period makes the peninsula Mhernettla is located upon virtually cut off from the rest of Arangoth by land.

Types of Korthai Vessels
Korthai are not above converted captured ships for their use, but prefer their own designs. The ships themselves draw from several cultural design aspects to combine the best. Size varies, but all are generally fast and well made, suitable for war and trade alike. Many are magically treated for such things as movement against winds, against catching fire, and to help prevent water from entering upon a breech.

Nesho Koyann
The Black Shark class is the mainstay ship of the Korthai fleets and is the most common ship employed in a battle situation by the Korthai. The hulls of ships in this class tend to be around a hundred and fifty feet long, but only twenty five feet wide, making it a slimmer ship than many sailing. It tends to have three masts, with square rigging on the mainmast and the mizzenmast, but lanteen-rigged on the foremast. The sails tend to be made of silk and are always colored red. The ropes also tend to be silk. Armament on this class of ship tends to be around twenty cannon. The ship itself is generally made from what the Korthai call "Jala wood," apparently a foreign sort of lumber, and is always darkly varnished. Crew on these ships rounds out at between a hundred and fifty and two hundred Korthai altogether.

Vako Gurann
The Red Storm class is a smaller, faster vessel. It is in less common use than the Black Shark class due to its limited cargo capacity.

Guranno Nak
The largest, most powerful class of vessel that the Korthai field is known as the Angry Whale in their tongue. It is not in common use due to crew requirements and expense in running, and is mostly used to defend Korthai home ports.

Religion
The Korthai religion is just as complicated as their ethnic makeup due to their practice of adopting captives. Menxism is common among the Korthai, as is worship of the Ellurian sea god Seviro. Almost all Korthai believe in an entity they call the Sea Serpent, a spirit of the wild and unpredictable nature of the seas. While the Korthai believe that the Sea Serpent cannot be placated or bargained with, it is their understanding of its nature that allows them to navigate the oceans in rough weather that few non-Korthai could survive. "By the Sea Serpent" is a common Korthai exclamation of surprise or irritation, and the Korthai often swear oaths upon the Sea Serpent.

Language
Main Article: Korthai Language

The common Korthai language. combines phrases and concepts from several languages, also attributed to the high degree of cultural intermixing.

Description
The Great Wolf resembles a normal wolf in most ways outside of being larger and normally black and brown shades. Body style and fur length resembles that of the standard forest wolf, features and head shape as well, just on a larger scale. Normally the wolves have eyes of a darker shade, deep brown or black and sometimes gray. During the winter they grow a downy undercoat of a cream shade making them lighter in appearance.

Though the great wolf mirrors it's smaller and more diminutive and normal cousin, there are legends about a pure black wolf that rivals even the large animal in size.

Habitat
Though the normal habitat of the Great Wolf are areas of grasslands and wooded regions they have been seen in other types of environment and aren't strictly confined to any one area. These animals hunt in packs and normally end up moving around anywhere that a steady supply of food can be found.

Mainly these wolves can be found in Zul Kiras though they will range out in attempts to find good breeding grounds and good hunting grounds. It is uncommon to find a lone great wolf but when they are seen it is possible to see the creature far away from the normal grounds of the packs. A lone Great Wolf is even more dangerous than those running in a pack because it is more likely that it will react with aggression as an instinctual response. Needing to protect only itself without the pack to back it up, the wolf is necessarily more hostile.

Breeding Habits
Wolves bear relatively large pups in small litters compared to other species. The average litter consists of 5–6 pups, with litter sizes tending to increase in areas where prey is abundant, pups are usually born in spring, coinciding with a corresponding increase in prey populations. Pups are born blind and deaf, and are covered in short brownish cream fur that darkens with age.

Like the Wolfskill clan that protects and worships these animals they mate for life, instead of fighting for rights to mate as most believe. The death of a mated wolf is something to be seen as a tale of devotion and heart break in nature. On the death of their mate the one that is left behind will lie down beside them, if they are among the pack the rest of the pack normally ranges out about the pair and sets up a howling tribute to the death of not only one but both of their fellows. When the cry of the pack dies down as though one has been predetermined as the chosen executor, one wolf attacks the still living mate and kills them. If the pair are not with the pack at the time of death, the mate left living will stay with its partner and waits until death comes from starvation or another beast attacks it.

Other Characteristics
Normally the pack size of the Great Wolf ranges anywhere between 6 - 10 wolves in a group though as the population of them expands they can reach up to anywhere between 15 - 20 in a pack. Normally packs this large either splinter off into two smaller groups or there is fighting among the males as too many in one pack results in confrontation over the alpha male position.

Stories and legends have been told of a pure Black Wolf with blue eyes. This found particular in the Wolfskill clan stories of their god but the tales of actual sightings of this wolf are difficult to directly attribute to fact because of the widely varying amount of detail that witnesses use. The most cohesive statements tell that the Black Wolf is larger even than the normal Great Wolf, standing closer to 6ft in height at the shoulder and 6ft or more in length, a massive 250lb body, with bright blue eyes.

Nomadic in accordance to food they seem to have incredible endurance of both hardships and hunting.
}}

Description
The Kaas Ripper is a small lizard iwth a large ruff of skin that lays normally folded back against it's neck and head. When the creature is attacking, frightened, or feeding the frill flips up to make it look larger and more intimidating. The frill of the lizard is supported by long spines of cartilage which flex and make the frill stand upright about its face. The rest of the lizard is rather plain, all of the body and frill are grey or green tones and the skin is like that of a snake, cool and soft, velvety almost. It has a long tail which it uses to wrap about limbs of trees to keep it stationary.

Habitat
Kaas Rippers normally inhabit wooded areas in the Kargaan Vale, though these lizards will follow their prey for vast distances once there is a scent of blood. They are most comfortable within trees, laying their eggs at the base of the tree and protecting them from a height. Though the lizard will live primarily in wooded areas it is not uncommon to see a pack of them that have made their home in an area that is primarily grass.

Breeding Habits
Though the male and the female Kaas are generally much the same in appearance, the male being slightly larger, it doesn't seem to cause any promblems in terms of mating. Kaas Rippers are a prolific beast, mating in the early wet season before the cold and the clutches of eggs are laid a couple of months after that in numbers of anywhere from 6 - 25 eggs.

The male ripper will normally use the spreading of its frill in a kind of mating dance for the females who cluster together, the mating habits of the lizard are normally particularly violent. A male ripper will spread its frill at the group of females, depending on his performance a number of them will attack him and the one that is victoriously able to drag the male away is the one to carry his eggs. The eggs laid are protected, normally being laid and covered in a circular area with the adult rippers lingering in trees above to supervise. People that have stumbled into a circle of ripper egg protecting trees normally do not come back out.

Other Characteristics
There is a horror story in the Kargaan Vale about the Kaas Ripper; a traveler cuts through the deep woods when he sees a small, sharp-toothed lizard following him. He kicks it away but he soon sees two more, then three more after that and soon, he is chased down and consumed by a ravenous swarm of raptors in miniature. Because of the nature of the pack or swarm attack of these lizards, they make for ferocious hunters and because once they have a taste for the blood of their prey they will follow them for great distances the lizard has become feared and commonly there are attempts made to wipe out packs of them as they are found.
Its brown fur is rather motley, hanging very much like wool and dropping in 'cords' to keep the animal warm. Its pointed, upright ears are sensitive to the most minute of sounds, and the two large front teeth have been said to nibble straight through the thickest of wood. A tapering scaled tail often helps it balance when trying to get through high, slender beams of barns and other places the animals live.
Habitat
Normally this rodent lives in the grasslands, but it will make its home inside barns and slightly inhabited buildings, normally up in the rafters. The rodent has also been known to live in trees to escape local predators. Though this rodent normally is found in the Sresar Vale they can be found even so far as Drache.

Breeding Habits
Gobbers have no specific mating season and breed any time in the year. Unlike most members of the rodent family, they have a longer conception period of 111 days (approximately 4 months). Their young are born fully developed, completely furred and with eyes open. It is possible that the Gobber has managed to survive even despite the hunts for them because it only takes four months for the Gobber to become sexually active and able to bear its own litter.

Other Characteristics
Gobbers do quite well even though there is an organized hunt for them, once a year, in the Sresar Vale. Called "The Gobber Get", this hunt is a great ordeal in that area with festivals, dances, contests, and of course, Gobber Pudding. One of the only dishes that Gobbers can be used in, most traditional recipes call for the livers of several animals, apple pulp, and various spices.

Large, rather intelligent bird found in the northern regions of Arangoth, mostly in Khalar territory.

Description
Between twenty and twenty five pounds average this bird has a variety of strange attributes. It has the ability to change the color of it's feathers depending on the season which makes it a rather prized commodity both in food trade and in the ceremonies of individual Khalar tribes. During the summer and fall months, it's plumage is rather drab, a mixture of spots of grays, blacks and browns. As winter approaches, this color fades to a striking white, also mixed with splatters of black and brown (this, of course, is to allow it to blend in with its surroundings). In spring, however, all of these usual colors give way to a spectacular blend of orange, green and red, used in the bird's mating rituals.

Habitat
The Kokomahs bird normally makes its nests in rock, the crags of cliffs and on high places in the mountainous area of Kahlahra. The bird seems to prefer these nesting points for the ability to launch from the high vantage point as well as the security that it offers their young during the sitting process.
Breeding Habits
In the spring the birds gather in a specific breeding ground, flocks of them all swoop down to mate. As much as this leaves them open to being hunted by humans for their horns and flesh, the peoples of the area keep these grounds fairly guarded. If one of the birds is killed or attacked the likelihood that the entire group will take wing and seek refuge in their mountain nests is high. Hunters found that this dramatically decreases the population of the birds as they are less likely to return to breed until the next spring even after the danger has passed.

The male of the species has two nub-like horns on the top of its head, these are used to stimulate the female into ovulating by rubbing them on specific spots of the female's body.

Other Characteristics
The nubs that the bird uses in mating are often ground them up to make a paste that is said to heal the worst of wounds. This, of course, is pure speculation and has never been verified, though the use of the paste is still practiced.

Its flesh is considered a delicacy by nobles and royalty in the area, and due to the demand for all of its parts, along with the rather flighty way the birds have in their spring time mating the Kokomahs Bird is getting harder and harder to find.

Race Origins
The gnomeish people originated in Orjana and have since spread out over the world rather quickly. The gnome race is actually of elvish descent though the elves are a far more stately people. Because of the nature of their small stature these people very reasonably are shy and prone to avoid outsiders. Because of this aspect of their personalities the gnomeish people created colonies within the earth and rock, massive tunnels and cave systems mostly running underground though in current day the clans choose to live in the Cheremosh forest.

History
About two hundred years ago there was a fierce battle and a Griffon commander backed by leturians almost succeeded in taking most of Orjana. An alliance of the Orjani, elves, and dwarven clans eventually forced back the attack but in the meantime several magical war crimes were commited with lasting repercussions. The winter grove in Mytos K'unn ruptured and allowed the Spirit of Winter to run amok, nearly exterminating the gnome clans as well as the elven and dwarven clans. This near extermination drove the gnomes out of the tunnels and caves they had created and into the forests of Cheremosh were they live to this day, using the terrain to protect themselves and preventing another mass slaughter of their clans

Before the war, because of the seclusion of this people it was unlikely to meet with one outside of Orjana and even then rare to see one outside of the area its clan lived. After the move from the cave systems to the forests however the gnomeish people seemed to spread out even further and it is more likely that you might run into one in the world, though they still are shy and wary of strangers.

Culture
Gnomes are skilled in magical and non magical building, they are tinkerers and are extremely proud of the things that they make. Insulting a Gnome invention is the worst thing that can be done and if a Gnome feels their work is unappreciated they will stop trading with the individual at once. They are a proud people and tend to take very badly to any kind of criticism. Luckily though as a race they are rather skilled engineers, perfectionist, and because they are well suited to work together in groups and teams at a particular project, are efficient and quick to accomplish a goal.

Because of the intense level of pride that gnomes have in their work they are rather difficult to trade with, finding that offers for their products are usually too low because of the high value they place on each item. Going into a trade with a Gnome should be done carefully and caution should be taken to not undervalue their goods, as well as their labor.

The religion that most of the Gnome people follow are the follow of the Spirits of the Land, considering all natural things to be spiritual and that spirits of all kinds of power reside in natural things. Much of the goods that Gnomes make are created to bear homage to the nature of what it started as. For example a thing that is made out of wood would probably have rather elaborate carvings of trees or stone items would retain facets of the stone's original state.

Typical Racial Characteristics
Gnomes in general are short, light, and quick. Normally the features of these people are dark hair, dark eyes, and grow hair quickly and thickly so the men more often than not have long beards and long hair, the women normally allow their hair to grow long as well. When speaking technically about engineering they have a tendency to run on about things in a way that would leave most people confused.

Race Origins
The origins of demons are spoken of in many different cultures, there are some people that consider them to be related to religion as being the messengers and harbingers of death. Though the demonic race are at times thought this because of the massive amount of powers they hold, they are not normally affiliated with any one religion.

The demonic entity begins as a humanoid creature, they must have the higher cognitive functions, be able to think and reason and most importantly of all. They have to want. A demon or a devil begins as a person who wants with all of themselves power and control. Beginning as merely a magic worker, a practioner of the arts of working with power, a person has multiple paths to entertain. When the choice is made to start following a path of dark magic, black power, the person who chooses this path has chances as much as any other being to turn back, turn aside and take a lighter direction.

Over time as all power does, the desire for power and the power itself, changes the person that wields it, over a great deal of time as dark arts are performed and the magic user takes steps into extending his or her lifetime, as the soul becomes blackened and corrupted, the demon begins to form. It takes a long time, many lifetimes of being steeped in the blackest of arts and at the end when the soul is corrupted and nearly destroyed the body normally is mangled with it. When the soul finally expires the desire for power and the amount of power that this 'person' holds must be enough to keep them alive. They feed off different elements to maintain their power and thus create pockets where they keep creatures they can feed off.
History
The history of demonic entities as all things that are steeped in power, time, and dark arts, have become muddled. People confuse demons for things of religion, or fallen angels. In reality the history of the demon is more simple and more direct. People that had taken too much power and are unable to turn back. It is rare to find one such person who is able to control the level of power, maintain the drive and desire for it, and find them still at the end master of themselves to be able to funnel all that power into staying alive after the death of the soul.

Over time the legends of demons and their connection to religion or religious orders has become widely exaggerated. Either due to information spread by the race as a way of confusing and muddling their existence, giving them a greater foothold into the lives of those people that they seek to use, or due to the general public's fear of the unknown. The power of these people may also add to the general impression that they are religiously connected, the combination of tales relating to angels as well as to gods translating down into the feeling that the great degree of power they wield must be religious in nature.

Culture
Demonic culture is tangled, there are many things that are along with the nature of the race themselves that is shrouded in fable and legend. The few things about the culture that are correct have been passed along through generations of demon hunters and scholars. Much of what is known about the demonic culture are things to aid others in defeating one of the entities because of the nature of this knowledge.

As a group, demons do not normally interact with one another in a social scenario, much of what they do entails them being independently able to draw people to them. Having more than one demon vying for material to nourish themselves causes more trouble to the demon in the end. A demon feeds most commonly off the particular emotion, response, or off the lives of humanoid races. Depending on the thing that they feed on, the presence of another of their kind in their feeding grounds is something they would normally seek to correct. Because of this they tend to not associate with each other for long, though some will do so to gather information about others of their race. Because of the nature of their culture and the darkness, the corruption connected to it and more often than not the willingness to dispose of each other, secrets and information about others of their kind are valued things.

One constant about the demonic culture is the power of a demon's name. At one point along the path that they follow there is a consistent need for the magic user to bind themselves to a name, something that can not be easily guessed and something that is not given out willingly. The need to bind to a name, a word of power, follows a transition that comes with the accumulation of power. The magic worker is able to reach a plateau and move forward, gathering more and more power.

There are people who are partial demons, a human or humanoid creature breeds with a demon and the child that results from it would maintain the characteristics of both parents. The genetic mutation of the demon body after time would follow into the blood of the child that is born from it and they have as much chance to inherit characteristics of power, personality, and features as any other child. Because of the dilution of blood however, the powers that a demon possesses would be more limited in the child that they bring forth. A half demon child is rare but definitely not unheard of, demons are more than able to control when and if they wish to either become pregnant or impregnate someone. Normally the impulse for a demon to breed is based off the same impulse they have for a great deal of their lives, desire for power, amusement, or something else self motivated. Because of being so connected to an infernal creature the child of such a union doesn't normally survive passed the demon's need for them. However there have been partial demon children in history that have either sought to hide what they are, embrace it and seek to become like their demonic parentage, or are discriminated against for their blood.

The general ideal that the demonic kind make deals in trade for the souls or services of humanoid races are normally true as well, depending on the power structure of the demon in question. Making a deal with a demon normally leads to consequences that the other party didn't forsee. Depending on what kind of demon it is, and what kind of response they require for nourishment the side effects may or may not outweigh the desired for gains. For example if dealing with an entity that feeds off suffering, a deal made with this demon for wealth may end up bringing that person a good deal of pain and suffering and draw their family into it so the creature can feed off all the pain it causes. Because these beings base their decisions mostly off of feeding or amusement and self interest, dealing with them lightly isn't usually the best idea.

Typical Racial Characteristics
There isn't much that is typical to the race when it comes to a physical outlook, they can vary as much in their features as the original race they come from as well as anything that has happened to their bodies in the time between starting down the path of corruption and the death of their souls. They may retain all their humanoid features, adding only features for the mutation, or they may become completely devolved into and animal type of form. Not just horns, tails, and wings.

One thing that is characteristic of the race is the desire for self gratification. Much of what drives them is the need to fulfill that hunger of self. They seek for power, amusement, desires of the flesh or whatever they wish at the time and it drives them to burn away portions of their souls. It is possible for these creatures to love, lust and be driven by all the emotions of normal humanoid creatures but normally when they are driven by emotion it tends toward driving them to the extreme. Killing anything in the way of their desire because there is no check on their morality. If they love someone or something, it will be protected or theirs at the cost of all life. If they desire a thing, anything will be sacrificed to attain or keep it. The mind of self gratification which satisfies itself only after its ends are met.

A half demon child is rare but definitely not unheard of, a half demon child carried by a female demon brought onto her by a male of another race is even more rare. Perhaps the nature of the female demon's body as it is corrupted and changed makes it an unsuitable host for a fetus but it is unlikely that a female demon would be able to carry a child to term if they could be impregnated at all. However there have been partial demon children in history that have either sought to hide what they are, embrace it and seek to become like their demonic parentage, or are discriminated against for their blood.
