At first glance, Dante appears to be a man of shorter than average stature with a lean physique with a head of brown, sun-kissed curls that glint with golden highlights from hours in the skies. Dante will answer to he or she, it matters not, though the former is given preference. His ears are pointed, and a scattered number of freckles dot both cheeks and the bridge of the nose. On longer inspection, Dante could be a woman with short hair. It's impossible to tell.

Character Background

Born the children of a gnomish inventor and his human wife, Denyte and Donnovath spent their youth as inseparable twins. The family moved often during the early years, first from Drache to northern Arangoth. The twins did everything together, from playtime to studies, occasionally participating in their father's mad schemes as his faithful assistants. When their mother ran away with a traveling silk merchant—citing her husband's neglect—the trio only grew closer. Now, when there father traveled to distant places for research, and to collaborate with other inventors, at times trading different magical devices to further his own research. It was during one such visit, that the pair received a mysterious, unhatchable egg as a gift from one of their father's friends after their interest in the pretty blue thing was observed. As it hadn't hatched in decades no matter the circumstances, there seemed no reason not to let the children have it.

Dante can recall very little from the night of the accident, only that there had been indescribable pain and terror. For lack of having anyone else to test his machines, the twins had become accustomed to assisting Metzen in the laboratory. He'd toiled for decades over his life's work, hoping to revolutionize the outdated mail system of courier birds. But some experiments were not meant to be. The machine designed to create a telepathic bond between two distant individuals malfunctioned.

Rather than relaying one twin's thoughts from one side of the lab to the other, an electrical surge merged both beings into one body, one consciousness, seemingly one soul, unable to tell thoughts and impulses of one sibling from the other. They were for all intents and purposes, one being, and have lived a content life for the past two decades.

During that surge, the supposedly unhatchable egg did finally crack. Lightning sizzled and electricity arced across the room, and at the center of it, a lone thunderbird chick sat in the shattered pieces of shell. Although Metzen never determined if it was a miscalculation on his part or interference of the hatching egg that caused the incident, they eventually adapted to the enormous change.

Unable to choose between one name or the other, the remaining child eventually settled on the name Dante instead. As the child and chick grew up together over the years, it became apparent the two shared a magical bond. Dante joined the local guard and eventually moved to Drache to pursue a position in the Aerial Corps.

Physical Description

At first glance, Dante appears to be a man of shorter than average stature with a lean physique and a head of brown, sun-kissed loose curls that glint with golden highlights from hours in the skies. Dante will answer to he or she, it matters not, though the former is given preference. His ears are pointed, and a scattered number of freckles dot both cheeks and the bridge of the nose. On longer inspection, Dante could be a woman with short hair. It's impossible to tell, and she never corrects anyone.

When off-duty Dante prefers riding leathers, jackets and pants, usually sporting flight goggles.

Talents, Skills, Quirks

Denyte and Donnovath are conjoined twins by the most literal and figurative definitions of the word, meaning not even Dante knows where one ends and the other begins. They are truly one being, thus unable to ever be separated without potentially destroying them.

Due to the experiment gone awry, electricity feels like pleasant tickles. Dante has been known to accidentally shock someone on a handshake. Can't help it.
