Deepish Language

Deepish is the language spoken in Elvendeep, though there are also native variants and dialects.
Prefix (optional)
- N- or n’- = imperative:
- Go! or Let him speak! etc.
Tense
- -i- = present tense continuous (I am going).
- -e- = present tense aorist (I go).
- -u- = simple past tense (I went).
- -eru- = past continuous tense (I was going).
- -ai- = future tense (I will go).
- -iri- = pluperfect (I had gone).
Infix (optional)
- -stha- = reflexive (myself, himself, herself)
- -thna- = passive (I am seen as opposed to I see)
Personal Ending
- -l = first person singular (I)
- -m = second person singular (you)
- -d = third person singular male (he)
- -s = third person singular female (she)
- [no ending] = third person singular neuter (it)
- -le = first person plural (we)
- -me = second person plural (you all)
- -de = second person plural male (they)
- -se = second person plural female (they)
- -re = second person plural mixed or neuter (they)
Noun endings
- [no ending] = singular
- -i- = plural
- -on = subject (nominative). The dog bites the man.
- -o* = direct object (accusative). The dog bites the man. The man gives the ball to the child.
- -é = TO something (dative). The man gives the ball to the child.
- -en = FROM something (ablative). The man takes the ball from the child.
- -an = BY MEANS OF something (instrumental): The army arrives by airship. The soldier slays his enemy with his sword.
- -a = OF something / the possessive (genitive). The door of the house. The man’s brother.
- The ending –o is often elided to –’ in speech and informal writing, though not in the case of the plural (-io).

Deepish Phrases
- Dôrion édede trômio. = The Elves (m.) see the men.
- Déiron asnes dunar’ léiré. = The Elf (f.) gives the sword to the young elf-lass.
- Dôrion dasmude dunario trômien. = The Elves (m.) took the swords from the Men.
- N’dasmem dunar’ tréimen! = Take (thou) the sword from the woman!
- Nasnestham! = Give yourself!, i.e., Surrender!
- Nédes trôm’. = Let her see the man.
- Nasnem nasar’ bôlé séina.
Adjectives do not take any particular ending but come immediately after the noun they modify.
