Origins & History

Caern is both the name of a city and a fortress located in the once-wild and hostile region of Outer Arangoth. The area was once part of Elvendeep and was claimed by Zul Kiras at one time. Caern is surrounded by the large, primitive death-mounds, or cairns, of the Primordial Giants, who have now disappeared.

According to the History of Elvendeep, between 304 to 305, the plains of Caern were carved into the new province of Outer Arangoth by the Order of the Beady Eye. The rampant banditry in the area and its desolate nature made the area unimportant to Elvendeep, and an indemnity paid by Arangoth meant that the elves gave up the area without much fuss.
