Biography

Jericho Dogwood’s origins aren't really clear... All that's known for sure is that he's from a formerly wealthy family in the country of Arangoth, due to various records and his obviously highborn education that is prevalent despite his other qualities suggesting otherwise. Originally, his education was tiered towards the art of exploration, map making, and recording. An explorer, but not an adventurer. He wished to explore the crevices and cracks of the world around him. After years of learning and training, Jericho was given his first assignment. This was of course the end of his life as he knew it, but it was also the beginning.

Records stipulate that only one survivor came out of that expedition, and that survivor was Jericho. He was found a week after the expedition went missing. One of the local farmers near his home heard something scaring the livestock and came outside to find what was reportedly a werewolf feasting upon a half eaten cow. Before the farmer could share the cow’s fate, the sun began to rise and Jericho once again took his human form, passing out onto the ground.

Jericho didn't remain there long after that. His family quickly tried to do away with him, wanting nothing to do with a lycanthrope. Before they could do so, Jericho’s inner beast took over once more, fleeing into the wilderness. For two whole years, his whereabouts remained unknown.

From the location in Arangoth that Jericho fled, one can find a trail of livestock disappearing. Through this, one can map where he was alongside the occasional appearance of someone matching his description in villages and towns. Though still related enough to be him, the description visibly changes over time, making it evident that his lycanthropy changed all his hair and his eyes from brown to grey. Sometimes there would be mere days in between livestock disappearances. Sometimes there would be weeks to a month. This trail dictates that while the specifics are vague, Jericho spent the two years fighting a battle within himself, beast and man fighting for superiority.

Eventually, less livestock disappeared and sightings of him in town became more frequent. He would even take odd jobs to make money and rent inn rooms. Though he would typically move out of town before anything could be suspected. However there are records indicating that he seemed to be in search of a Druid, and would often buy silver wherever he could afford it.

Arrival in Drache

At some point, Jericho wandered his way into Drache. There was no definitive entrance or appearance. Sightings of him simply began around the city. From there, he got involved in a multitude of incidents of note over the years, seemingly having chosen Drache as his home for a time.

The Giant Lizard

One incident the guards have record of is when a part of the city was under attack from a giant, sentient, bipedal lizard. While not colossal in size, it was a solid 12 feet tall. Jericho arrived on the scene, and a werewolf scrambled in to fight the lizard soon after, aiding the guard in chasing it off. Following this, Jeri fled the scene as well.

The Faerealms

What's known as Jericho’s first adventuring job, he and a few other adventurers to a delved into the faerealms to save a kidnapped child. While it is unknown what transpired within, Jericho and the others emerged with the child safe and sound, marking the job as a success.

Service to House Elisvir

At some point during his time in Drache, Jericho ended up serving under the Gulanadurian House Elisvir as the Matron’s bodyguard. It is here that he was given definitive combat training. However his membership in this house was short lived. He and a fellow house member by the name of Iliva’fae’iira became disgruntled with how Varatryx ran the house, and departed soon after finding that, while a kind person, Varatryx did not have the spine needed to properly lead.

Mhernletta

While his part in Mhernletta wasn't major, Jericho aided in defending the base camp outside of the town from the horrors that attacked the camp at night from the Elgar forest. It is through this that Jericho was awarded a plot of land.

Homesteading

Following his help in Mhernletta, Jericho quickly got to building a manor on the land with the money he had saved up. Since he still had connections, he got in contact with Siraz’jah Av’Zathrak and made a deal with her, allowing the Gulanadurians to grow opium on his land while he got a portion of the profit. Food was also grown on his land by farmers, to make sure he and those who lived on his land were well fed. It is through this that Jericho found himself with a sizable and stable source of income.

Wanderlust

Since exploring is what he had trained in his early life to do, the wanderlust eventually creeped back into his mind. After having trained some men to properly defend his home from whatever horrors would occasionally attack from the Elgar forest, Jericho packed up his things and went out to quench his thirst for exploration. From sighting reports that occasionally come in, it seems the most recent sighting of him was somewhere near Drache. Perhaps the wolf decided it was time to return to his den.

Personality

Jericho is a bright individual. He’s got a bold and confident air about him while retaining a friendly and good hearted attitude. He also expresses great wisdom for his young age, having experienced a lot of strife already within his lifetime. It’s noticeable that he seems to avoid getting angry unless he absolutely has to, typically only getting annoyed at most. However when he does find himself angry, he’s a beast of wrath whether it be through words or fists. In some cases it can even end up being claws.

Physical Description

Jericho is a lanky man, standing at a towering height of 6’9. This typically causes him to be compared to the tree that shares his last name. Thin, lanky, but tougher than he looks. He’s got pale skin, grayish blue eyes, and light gray hair that wouldn’t typically be found on someone of his age. He keeps his hair neatly combed and his facial hair trimmed into an equally neat beard. Were one to look into his mouth, they’d find he’s got pronounced canine teeth. Not as long as a vampire’s, but longer than usual nonetheless.

Abilities & Skills

Physical Abilities

Mundane Skills

  • Combat Training: Jericho, having gotten professional training from the Gulanadurian warriors of house Elisvir, became a proficient combatant and has only improved in the past few years in his adventures away from Drache.
  • Wayfinding: Jericho is trained in various ways of navigation such as drawing up maps or even using the stars to discern where he is heading. This makes sure that he is rarely ever lost.
  • Tracking: Due in part to his nose, Jericho is an excellent tracker. Though he also knows how to read tracks, find disturbances in the environment, and various other skills that help one to be a proficient tracker.
  • Survival Skills: Due to his time spent in the wilderness, Jericho knows how to properly survive. He knows what plants are edible and which ones aren’t, how to find clean water, and can use his skills to hunt food as previously stated in his proficiency for tracking. Though it goes beyond that. He also knows how to properly clean a carcass and use every part of the animal. He can even make clothing from leather and fur if needed, alongside various improvised weapons, though it’s more for emergency utility. Nowhere near the work of a true craftsman

Magic Skills

  • Lycanthropy: This ability is Jericho’s greatest weapon, but it’s just as much of a danger to himself as it is to those around him. He’s constantly at war with the beast within. It’s cost him many sleepless nights and restless full moons. Jericho is able to take the form of an 8ft tall lycanthrope that, much like himself, boasts a lanky form. Where most werewolves are buff and have discernable muscle, Jericho’s form is more lean, with elongated arms and legs meant to reach out and swipe at whatever threats lay before him. Where most werewolves seem to depend on brute strength, this form relies on speed and agility, even if it is by no means weaker than other werewolf types.

While Jericho is able to switch at will to make use of his lycanthrope form, it comes with risks. His personality when in that form is adversely affected. He becomes much more irritable and prone to violence, making it hard for him to work on a team. On top of this, his lycanthrope form is not sustainable for long periods of time. The more time he spends in that form, the more his mind tires until the beast within finally overpowers him. Depending upon whether the moon is out or not, and what part of the cycle the moon is on when he transforms, his lycanthrope form becomes harder to keep under control. He’s able to keep control the most proficient during the day, when there is no moon present whatsoever.

The final factor is the fate of all werewolves on the full moon. Jericho is completely unable to retain control of his form. The beast takes over him entirely. He typically circumvents this by locking himself somewhere secure when that night comes, or taking large doses of anasthetic potions so that even the wolf within is knocked out when his body is forced to transform. However, the few times he has failed to do this, only livestock has ended up consumed. Whatever he becomes doesn’t seem intent on eating people, though it’s more than happy to kill them if they don’t give it a wide berth.

  • Wolf Kinship: Jericho seems to have a mutual understanding with wolves and wild dogs. They won’t take hostile actions towards him unless he attacks them first, and he is able to walk amongst their packs unimpeded. He’s been known to travel with wolf packs on his adventures, as he typically travels alone and feels safer when in numbers. Adversely, domesticated dogs show hostility towards him and he often gets growled at when simply walking by them on the street.
