Biography

Yo-Junichiro-rai-Ren has lived a long time. Long enough to remember before the Throne was a false idol and The Most Blessed and Honoured Ao-Aigado was busy tending to the druidic aspirations of nirvana in the Nipangu Palace. Ren has been a devout member of the Gardeners for as long as he can remember. Though he eschews the typical basket helmets of his order in order to better assimilate with foreigners, he is every bit as capable as can be expected from a Gardener that has lived as a nearly-immortal monk for over a millennium.

Ren currently serves in a diplomatic capacity for the Celestial Elves of Inimara-Yo, and the sparse elven Nipangui society at large. With the increase in trade to Panguro in general, and with it the increase in Western magicks, Ren has tried his best to balance the idyllic lives the elves live in their Most Blessed City of Petals Wherein No Evil Steps with the foreigners that arrive at their shores. He has largely done so by going to the source of the disruption and solving it personally.

Typically, Ren travels with a small entourage of Gardeners and retainers. Both are typically unseen and busy themselves with other tasks. The Celestial Elf prefers to work independently, and seeks to serve as a point-of-contact for any disputes or qualms prospective “clients” of the Gardeners may have.

Having traveled the world for quite some years, he has a strong grasp on both the current political landscape of Siveth and its storied past. Though by no means a walking encyclopedia, Ren is more well-read in more subjects than most anyone when it comes to the history of the planet he walks on. Ask him about how to cook eggs, however, and he may not be able to give you anything of use. He’s vegan, after all.

Personality

Yo-Junichiro-rai-Ren is a cold man. He largely sees mortals as children, a waste of time to train or teach given their notably short lifespans. Only venerable Deepish are given the attention of an equal, and even then there is the dormant opinion that the Deepish are simply imitators of the superior Nipangui Elves. This leads to an overall personality of apathy and impatience.

Ren is also a single-minded individual. Ruthless in a way, if a goal is being obstructed, most of the time the simplest answer is to obliterate the obstruction and ensure it never returns. This opinion is shared even when the obstruction is a living being — an event that has occurred a few times, and has always caused more problems than it’s solved.

Despite the fact that Ren finds most mortal life unwelcome, he has an endless amount of empathy toward wildlife. He often spends weeks at a time traveling the countryside when at home, staff in one hand and a bag of feed in the other. He is especially fond of speaking to squirrels, whom he finds surprisingly clever.

Physical Description

Ren is a waifish and tall elf, with green eyes and black hair that he keeps in a tight topknot. His features are elongated and gaunt. His ears are pointed on both the tops and bottoms, elongated more than a typical Deepish elf’s and dagger-sharp. He typically has a disappointed frown on his face.

Besides a simple all-blue kimono, there is little adornment on his person. He has eschewed the typical interior stylings of the Pangui for the basic designs of the Gardeners. Only the symbol of the Gardeners (a single cherry blossom petal) adorns each of his sleeves, embroidered in a stunning silver-spun thread. There is no jewelry or notable decoration otherwise.
